Parts Work &
Voice Dialogue

You are a whole inner community — led from your wise center.

Each of us carries many inner voices — some protect, some hold old pain, some carry wisdom. This work helps you know them, relate to them with warmth, and lead your inner world from a calm, compassionate center.

The approach

Your inner community

This work invites you to explore and understand the different inner voices that shape your experience. Each voice has its own reason for being there and its own way of trying to help — some show up to protect you, some hold old pain, and some carry wisdom and intuition.

Rather than treating these voices as problems, we get curious about them. We listen for what they protect, what they hope for, and what they need from you. Over time, you build a warmer, more compassionate relationship with your inner world, so your choices feel steadier and more aligned with the person you want to be.

IFS & Voice Dialogue

I mainly draw on two closely related approaches to parts work — both view the mind as a community of inner voices, each with a perspective, feelings, and a role.

IFS-informed work

Internal Family Systems sees your psyche as a system of parts — protectors, and the tender parts they look after — all organized around a calm, compassionate core called the Self. My work is IFS-informed: I use its map to help parts feel understood, so more of your true Self can lead.

Voice Dialogue

Voice Dialogue gives each inner voice room to speak directly — the one that pushes, the one that worries, the one that pleases, the one that grows critical. As we meet each in turn, you gain perspective and a wider sense of choice, guided by an aware center.

The aim of both is integration: helping your inner voices communicate with each other, so your whole system feels more balanced and supported.

The center

The wise adult & Self energy

At the heart of this work is what many call the wise adult, or Self — a calm, grounded presence in you that can meet every part with warmth. When you lead from Self energy, you can be with even the loudest or most tender voices while staying steady and open.

People often describe Self energy through qualities like calm, curiosity, compassion, clarity, courage, confidence, creativity, and connectedness. Much of our work is simply helping more of that wise-adult presence come online, so it can offer your parts the steadiness they have been longing for.

Tender voices & the inner child

Some inner voices carry the most tender material — old hurt, fear, shame, or the ache of feeling unseen. These often connect to early experiences and unmet needs, and many people experience them as inner-child feelings: raw emotions that rise up in the present and feel bigger than the moment in front of you.

When those vulnerable voices carry a lot, protective voices step in — you might notice perfectionism, people-pleasing, overthinking, avoidance, numbing, control, or self-criticism. These protectors usually developed at a time when they truly helped you cope. We honor their purpose while helping them soften enough for you to reach what lives underneath, at a pace that feels steady and safe.

Healing happens through reconnection: meeting the younger, wounded places with care, offering support, and building an inner relationship that brings relief and stability over time — a kind of inner parenting, where you learn to show up for yourself with steadiness, clarity, and compassion.

How it fits together

Blending with Brainspotting

I often weave parts work together with Brainspotting. Once we have met a part with curiosity and care, a brainspot can help the body process what that part has been holding — reaching the emotional and sensory layers that live below words.

Bringing the two together lets insight and body-based processing support each other: you come to understand a part and give it a real path to settle and heal. Many people find this blend moves things that talking alone had circled for a long time.

How this helps

When you learn to recognize your inner voices, your patterns start making more sense — you see why you react as you do, why certain triggers land hard, and why you can feel pulled in different directions inside.

Clarity — understand your emotions and reactions with more insight.

Inner harmony — ease inner conflict by improving how your voices relate.

Space to respond — create room between a trigger and your response.

Self leadership — support the parts that carry old burdens, so your authentic self leads.

Inner work and the brain

This work supports the nervous system and the brain, along with your emotions. Early experiences shape neural pathways and influence how you respond to stress, relationships, and self-worth. While old wounds stay unprocessed, the brain often stays organized around protection, keeping familiar loops in place.

As you build a compassionate relationship with your inner world, new pathways form. Many people experience this as more emotional regulation, more resilience, and a stronger inner anchor — the steady, clear, confident presence of inner parenting.

A safe space to explore

Exploring vulnerable parts of yourself asks for a comfortable, trusting environment. My aim is a space where you feel free to turn inward and understand the fuller picture of your inner world, moving at a pace that stays steady and safe throughout.

Everyone has a unique psychological makeup, and a single model rarely fits every person. I draw from several approaches and shape our work around your needs, your pace, and what supports you most.
